How to check e-mail address?

Hi
is there any way to check which addresses in my address book are dead, and
which ones are alive, without sending mails to any of those? Or maybe to send
blank mail while the user is unaware that he/she received an email?

I have more than 200 addresses, and I simply don't want to send mail to every
single address/person, just to receive either bouncing note form the provider
or the response from the user.

No, I'm not interested in spamming other people, I just want to clean my
address book.

Here's something you might try if you're on a Windows 2000/XP machine.

Email Tester at <http://www.steelbytes.com/software_misc.html>

"a win32 cmdline program to validate an email address, and sample .php
and .bat on how to use it."
