Hi

At first, independently of method you'll use, you have to ensure, that the
cell(s) format is General or Numeric.
Then, when the problem did occur with single cell only, select the cell in
Edit mode (double-click, or F2), in formula bar delete the preceeding
apostrophe, and press Enter.
When you have several such cells, enter 1 into some free cell (or find a
cell with number 1 in it) and copy it. Select the range to convert, and then
PasteSpecial.Multiply

how about change it into a value then?
