Hello Peter,
Thank you for posting here.
Based on my research, there is no such feature that can change a group of
folders to have the same views settings.
You could open Windows Explorer, right click a certain folder,
"Properties", "Advanced¡" and then you will see four options. In these
four scenarios, the system will ask you if you want the changes to affect
all subfolders and files as well.
However when you change the "View mode", the system will not ask you. If
there is the fifth option in this window, I think it will be a workaround.
In addition, you are welcome to send suggestions for product enhancements
that you would like to see in future versions of Microsoft products to us
by submitting an MS Wish. To send a comment or suggestion via the Web, use
one of the following methods:
1. In Internet Explorer 6, click Send Feedback on the Help menu and then
click the link in the Product Suggestion section of the page that appears.
2. In Windows XP, click Help and Support on the Start menu. Click Send your
feedback to Microsoft, and then fill out the Product Suggestion page that
appears.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let me
know. I am happy to be of assistance.
Thanks and regards,
Alex Zhang

| Is there a way to change a group of folders to have the same view settings
| (e.g. detail view, which columns are displayed, etc)?
|
| I only know how to change *all* folders, or one folder. I would like to do
| something in between.
|
| For example, I have a folder tree full of music I ripped from my CD
| collection. In these folder, I want to display track #, artist, ...
However,
| it is very tedious to go into each folder one by one to set these
| attributes. Is there a better way?
|
| To add insults to jury, winXP sometimes forget the folder settings and I
| have to start over again. Arg!
