I got many .MPG video files with an extension of .DLL from one of my friend.

I have tried to change the extension of the video file back to .MPG, however
it freezes every time. I have also used some of the file extension re-namer
but still if freezes. He says that he renamed the video files in DOS mode. I
tried that too but to no avail.

Any other suggestions ?

Why on earth would your friend change the extension from .mpg to .dll in the
first place?

Hello Byte,

Thank you for your suggestions.

The question here is an existing video file ( with extension mpg ) is
renamed with extension of .dll, so that it cannot be searched by any video
string.

Now this file needs to be renamed to its original extension.

The .DLL files on my computer are already registered and working fine.

Do you have any more suggestions ?

Yes, it is a good question as to why one would rename an MPEG to DLL.
But, never mind.

What happens when you try the rename under DOS?
What is the file name (I'm wondering if the name happens to correspond
to an actual OS DLL file name)?
