I tried to download a printer driver from a website for a new printer, and
the installer always attempts to install the driver to an N: drive, which
doesn't exist on my computer. The same thing happens when I tried to
download and install the Java Virtual machine.

Sometimes the installer ask me what drive do I want, but in this case it
automatically attempts to install to some drive called N:

I want to know if there is a way to control what drive automatic installs go
to?

thanks in advance

Downloads - Change default Internet Explorer Download Directory

Start | Run | Type: regedit | Click OK
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Create a new String value, or modify the existing value, called Download
Directory
Value Name: Download Directory
Data Type: REG_SZ
Value Data: Path to the folder

Thanks for your reply Wesley, but i followed your instructions by running
regedit, and created a new string Download Drive with the value data of C:\
, re-booted the computer but I still get the same error #1327 Invalid drive
N:\

I did find a temporary solution to my printer drive problem, but download
the executable to my desktop and telling the Windows installer to look there
for the files.

But I would still like to know the solution to this problem with the N:\ drive

Look at this...
You receive an "Error 1327. Invalid Drive" error message when you try to
install Office 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327763

Ignore the title.
Scroll down to RESOLUTION.
If any registry value contains a drive that is not correct for your
computer, fix it.
Especially if N:\ is listed anywhere.
