Working with XP Pro here. I can't think of a real good way to format this
question, so I'll be as clear as I can. You know how if you go to START and
then click RUN and type in \\servername it will pop up a box requesting a
username and password and you have the option to save the password.... where
can you go to change the password after you have told XP to save it?

Hope that is clear enough.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

It depends if the \\servername is a Windows Server with a domain /
Active Directory system. This is handled with the domain / Active
Directory "controls" on the server.

It is a Windows 2000 server with active directory. However, the computer
trying to connect is not a member of the domain. I once connected from the
users computer, typed in the username and password and told it to save. We
then changed her password on the server and now she cannot connect, keeps
saying she does not have permission to access the resource and she cannot
remember her old password.

Control Panel --> User Accounts --> Advanced (???) tab --> Manage
Passwords

If not, http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/network_password_recovery.html

(Note: Several a/v might detect some keyloggers system in the tools.
Just use it to find the password and or remove it.)

You might find http://mylogon.net a good alternative to stored passwords
when connecting a nonmember laptop to a DC. For one thing, it avoids the
security problems associated with stored passwords.
