Hello,

When you click on Help About Microsoft Word, it
shows "this product is licensed to XXXXXX". I think you
need to go into the registry to change the XXXXX to
another name, but I don't remember where.

We have had many staff changes and I need to change the
licensed names so that our Word templates that use the
variable "username", which pulls the information from the
licensed name, will show the correct person's name.

Thanks for your help,
Millie

P.S. Will the same instructions work for Windows 98 as
well? Or should I repeat the post in the Windows 98
newsgroup?

Hard to find since it is not in plain text.

For Office 2000
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\UserInfo\
UserName=
UserInitials=
(both are REG_BINARY values)
They are nul-terminated Unicode strings.

I may have mis-interpreted your question. My method addresses the
Username and Userinitials in Word. Not the licensed-to name.
