I did some research into this matter for you, and I have one solution
courtesy of some input from the IE tech support guys.
This isn't a perfect solution, but it will allow you easy access to
ixquick.com using the search button.
Here's how:
Open IE
Click the Search button
When the Search Companion opens, select Change Preferences
On the next option list, click Change Internet Search Behavior
Select the option "With Classic Internet Search", and click OK
Close the Search Companion
Close all instances of IE, then re-launch IE
Click on Search
You will have a different Search page here, now, click on Customize.
Select "Use one search service", and click OK
Close the search pane, close IE.
Now we are going to change settings in the registry key. It's VERY
IMPORTANT that you back up your existing reg key settings before making any
changes, how do to do so is included in the instructions. Make sure you do
this before making ANY changes to your registry.
Open your registry editor (Click Start | Run | "regedit" w/out the quotes
amd press <ENTER>)
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Main
Select the Main folder, then click File | Export. Name the file something
like HKLM-IE-Main for reference.
Change the values of Default_Search_URL and Search Page to the URL you want
to search from.
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
Select the Main folder, then click File | Export. Name the file something
like HKCU-IE-Main for reference.
Change the values of Search Bar and Search Page to the URL you want to
search from.
After making your changes, close the registry editor.
Launch IE, and click Search.
Your selected page should be visible.
If you don't like these settings, simply import the reg keys you exported
and you will return back to normal.
Hope that helps!
