I just got a cable modem and router to connect two pc's
to the internet. Cable modem is connected to the router
and routers to pc's. One PC is using Windows 98 and works
fine. The other machine is running Windows XP and
evertime I turn off the machine and back on, when I try
to connect to the internet, I get IE Explorer 6.0 trying
to dial out. I can't get it not to try to dial out. As a
result, its not connecting to the router and I can't make
the connection.

Please help.

Click Tools/Internet Options/Connections
Select "Never dial a connection"
Should slove your problem. Post back if any questions

Thanks for the response but I forgot to say in my
original message that "Never dial a connection" is
selected. Or appears to be selected because it has a
checkmark and is not accessible because I have no dial up
connection set up. I did use to have a dial up connection
before I got the cable modem but I've since deleted it.

Carlos, Can you try to run the connection wizard in IE
again ? Tools/Internet options/connections/setup
Maybe that will cure the issue
