Have you tried reading the manuals and/or help files of the applications in
question?

Hello,

I'm starting to wonder if you have a DVD burner. Because usually if you
don't have a DVD burner DVD burning software might work in this manner. So
you might want to check if you have the 'RW' (which stand for DVD Re Writing
capable) symbol on your drive, if it doesn't then chances are that you need
a DVD burner. Please note that CD burners are not the same as DVD burner
(although DVD burners are also usually CD burners as well).

I have the same problem, however i know i have a dvd burner; it has its own
dvd drive above the cd drive. it can take either dvd-r and dvd+r, but
regardless of either i put in, it refuses to acknowledge that i have a blank
disc in the drive. i've tried various brand names... my computer is new as
well (just over a year) is there anything i can do about it, or is it a
hardware problem? (i've researched this problem before and many people with
the same tower as me have had the same problems)

Hello,

Perhaps you can try finding a firmware update for your burner. Just go to
the manufacturer's website and try and see if you can get an update. Along
with that try to use some lightweight application such as Cheetah burner or
something like that, some people find this works better than other burning
software like Nero etc.
