blocking email address and referrer in firefox.

hi all,

back when i was using netscape, there was a referrer block
option. Is there anything similar in firefox?
Also, isn't there an option somewhere to stop the browser from sending
your email address to every page you go to? This used to be
blockable in netscape.
(I use thunderbird along with firefox).

I have been thru
the options/preferences stuff, but can't find it, if it is there.
I seem to vaguely recall this somewhere. I'm getting a lot more spam
since switching.

Also, veering way OT here, is there a way for met to check
which verision of USB I have? I know it's not 2.0, but how
can I tell if it's 1.0 or 1.1. Win98 on a gateway bought
about 1998. Belarc and similar show USB present, but not which
version.

Bring up the configuration manager by typing about:config in the
address bar. Then, in the filter window, search for
network.http.sendRefererHeader . Set the value to 0, and the referer
will be blocked.

As far as I know, Firefox won't automatically send your e-mail
address.

Not sure.
