How to backup E-Mail Accounts???? (in outlook 2003)

I am going insane! have been looking everywhere for days and found nothing

QUESTION:
How do I backup email accounts? (In outlook 2003, Tools->E-Mail Accounts... )

I am reinstalling windows and I have many email accounts and I would not
want to have to reenter all this info but have found not a word mentioned
about this on ms support site or on the web...

Please help!
 
Thank you for taking the time to reply but unfortunatelly there is nothing
about email account there.

the last article mentions that this information is stored in the registry,
but I have search for all token i can think of and found nothing....

I have experimented with "Files and Settings transfer wizard" and also
nothing!

I CANNOT believe I am the only one looking for this :)

he Microsoft Office Save My Settings Wizard can save account information.
You should have a Microsoft Office Tools item in your All Programs list
(either on its own or underneath Microsoft Office). See this for an

Hi Greg,

Could you be a little more specific? Are you talking about mailboxes,
Personal Folders, or just the account info?

If you're looking to backup the account INFO, there really isn't any tool
for that.
Just automating the creation of an Outlook profile is a bit of work - trust
me, I know!

You're best bet is to create a document where you store all the MAPI or POP3
acct info. You can paste screen-capture (grabs)'s of the "properties" into
the doc which will save you keystrokes.
 
I'm not so sure the "Save My Settings" wizard works on POP3 accounts though.
I use the .OPS file together with the PROFLWIZ.exe (orktools) to configure
Exchange accts for my Terminal Server users. -That's only one piece though
(since you can't edit an .ops file). I have to programmatically import a .PRF
file (for first time user) to write the exchange acct info to the user
profile in the registry. PROFLWIZ is run again with "save" switch to write it
all back to the .OPS upon logout.

I'll play with the "Save my Settings" wizard on my Office2k3 box - Too bad I
still have a lot of Office2k users around...

It does because it saves the mail profile registry keys. That's where the
accounts live.
 
I noticed that the tool goes away in 2007. So what is the best way to do it
in office 2007 ? please help I am having similar issues of rebuilding the
machine and my life is in the outlook...
 
Why would you want to backup the configuration? Configuring a mail account
in Outlook 2007 is a simple as putting in your email address and password.
In some cases you'll have to manually type in the server details but these
are easily obtained from your ISP.

I have numerours rules created
are just two reasons why I am looking for a tool instead of doing ti manualy
I did it before when using office 2003.
I upgraded to 2007 and I need to rebuild my laptop[which is my primary
computer] and there is a lot of info to reconfigure if i have to, plus more.
 
One of the reasons it was dropped was because it is unreliable; an Outlook
configuration is heavily tied to an installation. Transferring that to
another machine can cause many corruptions which result in the same thing;
reconfigure it manually. 3rd party tools are no better.

Rules cannot be transferred from one machine to the other either especially
when an upgrade is also being done. But of course it doesn't hurt to export
them and try to import then. You can do this by pressing the Options button
via Tools-> Rules and Alerts

In most cases you are much faster by reconfiguring it.

Just curious; why do you need 9 POP3 accounts?
