how to backup and export mail and settings in one go from outlook.

Everytime I have to move to a new computer or even when i have to reload
Windows 3 or4 times a year and i install outlook again the only way of
getting some mail back. You must then put in all your email setiings in again
manualy, you can only import from outlook express which no one uses and
Eurora pro which is no use to anyone which outlook, get a grip please b4 we
all swith to a mac

(Win XP with a lot of games installed seperate disks about 1 to 1.5TB of
games which is not many know that the game are to the 10GB mark)

After reconfiguring Outlook, you can reconnect your pst-file (the file that
contains all your Outlook data) via;
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

You really shouldn't use the Import and Export function for this.

Additionally see;
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

If you want to backup and restore your settings as well, due to the registry
and file location dependencies it's best to use a backup add-in instead.
See http://www.howto-outlook.com/tag/backup

If you have to reinstall win 3 or 4 times a year then you are doing
something seriously wrong

Windows 9x needed to be reinstalled multiple times a year, but since
Windows 2000 and XP there is no more need to reinstall Windows.

He mentioned winxp

I didn't mean to contradict you; just confirm that there is really no
more need to reinstall W2K or XP. (I don't know about Vista.)

I didnt take it as a contradiction
Agree with your observations as to win2k & Xp - I've had a vista pc running
for some 2 years with no probs
