How to back up contacts to put into program on laptop?

I have microsoft office 200 and I am using the contacts as a data base. I
cannot seem to back them up in the correct format. I need to know how to put
them in the same program on my new laptop. Thanks for any advice.

All of your Outlook information is stored in a file with the extension of
..pst.
