Hi All,

I would like to have a shortcut created automatically each time a user
is created. I want to mimic the shared documents feature found in
WinXP by having this shortcut point to another drive\folder. I also
want this shortcut placed in the 'My Documents' folder for easy access
by the user.

Can Windows 2000 Pro do this?

Thanks for any help,

Charles

Place the shortcut in;

C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\My Documents

Hi,

Well, yes I know I can do that manually each time a user is created. I
was hoping there was a way that Windows would do it for me. I do not
want to depend on the user creating this shortcut and I would like to
avoid me having to do it for each user I create.

What if I created this shortcut for 1 user and then copied the profile
to make it the default. Then, hopefully, each new user would have this
shortcut also? Will that work?

Thanks for any help,

Charles

You don't need to. When a new user logs on a profile is created from an
image in \default user

So you only need to do it once.

Hi,

Okay, I am awake now. Sorry, I misread your first post. I overlooked
the fact that you mentioned 'Default User'. Makes sense now.

Thanks for your help,

Charles

What's the difference between All Users and Default User?

\default user is an image used to create profiles for new users.
\all users is common to all users that logon (desktop, start menu, etc.)
