What makes you think it has not started? During startup, its service is
automatically started and Windows defender is running in the background
(unless you disable real time protection). You can check that it has, click
start, run, type services.msc, click OK. In the window that opens, scroll
down, you should see an entry called Windows Defender. Its status should be
started and startup type should be automatic (drag the window edge to the
right to expand the pane if you don't see all the columns).
By default, even when started, the icon in the system tray only shows if
there is an alert. You can set it to show all the time if you prefer, Open
WD, Tools, options, scroll down you'l see the option there, click save. I
find it useful to have the icon showing all the time, as by right click on
it you can open WD.

sweet, thank you, i just thought it is not on becuase it wouldnt show up in
the system tray, well, thank for your help,
