how to address labels when you have two names

What is the correct way of addressing labels when you have two full names
that are different and need to be on the same envelope?

example Dr. James Smith & Linda Jones or is it
Dr. James Smith
Linda Jones
111 E 14th Street

I think either would be correct, and you might base your decision based on
the size of the label and the space available. My preference, though, would
be for using a courtesy title for Ms. Jones as well.

The US post office prefers no courtesy titles.

"Replace or remove certain words as listed below. However, the use of
standard business word abbreviations is preferred over removal of words. The
following compression technique should be applied only if the standard
abbreviations do not meet particular business needs.
 Replace and with space.
Replace space & space with space.
Replace number words with numeric symbols: first with 1ST.
Remove etc., i.e., in care of, and et al.
Remove words like the, of, by, for, at, also.
 Remove ATTENTION, ATTN:.
Remove gender words like MS, MRS, MISS, MR, SIR.
Remove title words like DR, PHD, DDS, RN."

Gack! Fine if you're shooting for a bulk mail discount. The opposite end of
the spectrum is addressing wedding invitations. Personal business mail falls
somewhere in between.
