how to add sub totals

Hi, i am a new user of Access just finsihed my course a few months ago. I
am writing a Quote for my manager. I am now up to the stage where i have
made a sub report. I have my sub totals to work for both my Contractors and
Consumables with =sum(value*qty) which works great. But i need to add both
the sub totals together. I have put a text box in the footer and writen
=sum(value*qty)+(value*qty) but hence this does not work and it comes up with
an error. So i tried using the name of the tex box eg
=sum(subcontractor)+(SubConsumables) but this is still not working it is
coming up as an erorr on the main page. Could you please help me? Thanks

You need to provide more information about where all these totals are
generated and where you want to display the final result. You mention
subreport and footer but don't tell us what's in the subreport or which
footer section of which report.
