How to add shortcut in Outlook 2003

I keep trying to add an Excel file as a shortcut in one of the groups in
OL2k3. I can drag and drop the file and it shows up as a shortcut and works
fine until I restart OL - then it is no longer there.

I don't understand your problem. I just dragged Windows Explorer to my
Shortcuts folder. Then closed Outlook 2003. Then restarted Outlook 2003.
The shortcut was still there. Sounds like you are experiencing a "problem",
not normal Outlook 2003 behavior.

However, I was only able to drag SOME shortcuts from the Desktop into
Outlook 2003. For instance, I was unsuccessfun in dragging a shortcut for
Norton Personal Firewall (perhaps because the "shortcut" for Norton Personal
Firewall is actually an executable file instead of a true shortcut.)

I don't understand it either. The shortcut is there and works until I s/d
Outlook and reopen it.
