Hi,

I have (5) XP machines networked together in my home
office. I also have a Mac [OSX] connected to the
network. The Mac automatically detects my Windows
machines and allows me to connect to them via the
network. However, my XP machines don't seem to be able to
detect the Mac, and so I can't access the Mac from my XP
machines.

I know it must be possible to do this, but I can't find
any info about it in the Knowledge Base.

Can someone tell me what I need to do?

Thanks a million, Metrov

My problem is a bit different. Previously I had one Mac
running OS X, and one PC running W98 Second Edition.
With Microsoft Networking correctly configured, I was
able from the PC to see the folders I had specified for
sharing on the Mac, and then I was able to map those
folders as drives so that their contents could be
accessed within various P2P applications. Now a PC
running XP Home has replaced the PC; I have used the
Network Setup Wizard and configured the PC to again see
the shared Mac folders. However, when I attempt to map
to the folders it sees, it says, The Path Was Not Found.
Not found? How can this be? What does this mean?

Please help! Thanks.

First of all:
Why did you get a Home Edition if you needed a Network PC?!
Maybe this works (as long as you can ping the MAC!):
Map your drives to the IP-Address of the MAC-Shares.
NET USE <Drive:> \\IP-Address\Sharename ...
For help on this type:
NET USE /?
in a DosBox.

p.s. do you have AppleTalk installed on your XP?

Hi -

Windows no longer ships with services for Macintosh but
fortunately an OS X machine can connect to a Windows
network fairly easily.

Since it's the Mac that needs to be configured to connect
to a Windows network I'm including a link to an article
from Apple that should get you going.

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=19652

good luck!
