how to add 'description' comment to a networked computer

I think the subject above is worded awkwardly, because I don't know the
terms to describe what I want!

When I double click the Network desktop icon the computers logged on to the
network appear. The Win98 and or Win95 computers also show a 'description'
under the comment columb. The W2K computer just shows up as WIN2000 (which
is what I named it), with no description.

So where can one add a 'description' which would appear under the 'comment'
columb?

I've looked and looked, but not in the right places!

Thanks
Vic

Your Subject line is spot on! Here is a way to change the description.
Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}, then type this command:

net config server /srvcomment:"Vic's PC"

Right-click "My Computer", select Properties, then look on the Computer Name
tab.

My Win2000 machine does not have a "Computer Name"
tab. Could it be somewhere else?

Pegasus, yeah my PC does not have a tab like that either, but the CMD syntax
you gave worked perfectly! Saw the new description after a reboot. Thanks!

I hate to be a pest but I am unable to locate this item under
the tab you mention. Could you be more specific?
