I am going through hunderds of photos and I would rather not right click and
select delete on each one or select organize>delete. In XP it allowed me to
customise the toolbar to add any other possible option you could find by
going through the normal alt+f menus. How do I add a shortcut to one of
those options on my toolbar in vista?

Unfortunately they removed the old button bar from Windows Explorer. The new
Command Bar is not configurable, at this point in time, although this may be
something that will be added later. For now, the only viable option is to
use the keyboard shortcuts. If you want to use the mouse only, the old style
Menu Bar can be added by either clicking the ALT key or by going to
Organize/Layout and selecting the Menu Bar there.

There is no fix, because this behavior is the result of an intentional
design change in Vista.

To work around this behavior, you can press the ALT key to show the old
style menus temporarily, or makew them show permanently by slecting
Organize/Layout/Menu Bar.

You can also use keyboard shortcuts.
CTRL+R (Refresh)
DEL (Delete)
etc.
