How-to add a domain tree without a new DC

Any help will be much appreciated on the following:

I have a DC running Windows Server 2003; it's the controller for domain, say, x.com.

I'd like to now host (say) y.com in addition to x.com.

Is there a way I can do this without having to run an additional DC?

So far, the only way I can figure out how to even create the new domain tree y.com is by using the Active Directory Exchange Wizard. That won't let me create a new domain tree on a machine that already has Active Directory installed.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

Josh

If you want two domains I'm afraid you will need two servers as a DC can only be a DC for one domain at a time. I would forget about the Exchange wizard idea as that will not work.
If hardware cost is the issue you might consider running Virtual PC on your DC which would allow you to build a virtual machine acting as DC for the second domain, giving you two DC's on one physical machine but with reduced performance for both of them.

if you need authinication for both domains then you would need two servers
for the x and y domains. if you just need web or other network access then
you can just make a DNS entry and add the ip address.
