I have programs calling for mention files, but the fils cannot be accessed.

In Adobe Reader 8.0: AcroRd32.exe cannot access either of the two files.
Same problems in PCSuite (Nokia-program): DataLayer.exe cannot access.
In MSN Messenger: MSNMSGR.EXE cannot access msvcr80.dll.
How do I solve these problems?

Please, help

A DLL file is a Dynamic Link Library file and cannot be accessed
It can only be accessed by the original app it was created for.
By the word access, what are you trying to do? You cannot
edit it, but you can replace it from the manufacturers website
if your files are corrupt.

Thanks for sharing my problems.
The problems came to my knowledge when I run Norton Win Doctor to examen my
pc. NWD told me that I had the mentioned problems.
Well, I did what you told me. I downloaded the two dll-files.
But no effect. Do I have to address them to a distinct file?

Suggest you replace your old DLL files with the new ones you
just downloaded. Yours may be corrupt. Your response was
5 days after my response. Suggest you keep more up to date
and don't wait that long, must not be urgent or necessary.

Thanks! You have now helped me to solve the problem with missing 'msvcp80.dll'.
I did as told: downloaded the missing file to the questioned folder.
Succesfully! Thanks!

When I was going to do use the same procedure for 'msvcr80.dll' I read this
warning:

Hello everyone, My name's Martyn Lovell, and I'm the development lead of
the team that produces msvcr80.dll [The Visual C++ Libraries team]. There are
a couple of things I'd like to clarify. First, let me be clear that NOONE
should download the file linked here, because it is a beta copy of the
software and not compatible with the final version that has now been
released. If you've already downloaded it, please delete it. Second, if
you've seen reports from Norton WinDoctor that you need this file, they are
wrong. It incorrectly reports that msvcr80 is missing when in fact it is
correctly installed in the WinSxS directly in the windows. folder. If you own
WinDoctor, you should report this bug to Symantec so that they get it fixed.
Do NOT copy the this file to any of the folders WinDoctor recommends. If
you've already attempted to take corrective action for this issue (by copying
msvcr80.dll or msvcr80d.dll to ...\system32 or to the .NET Framework
directory), please delete them. These files do not need to be copied around,
and doing so may cause problems in future. In future, if you think you need a
copy of this file, you should contact the publisher of the application that
says it needs it. msvcr80 is not distributed centrally by Microsoft, but
instead 'comes with' the applications you use. Most of you have probably
downloaded the .NET Framework 2.0 which includes msvcr80, but triggers the
false error report from Norton. Please feel free to contact me directly if
you have more questions, as I don't read this forum regularly. Martyn Lovell

Considering this "msvcr80.dll" error is "noticed" by Norton and not by
Microsoft, I don't recommend downloading this file, as if it were really a
critical issue, Windows Update would have corrected this problem long ago.
You should not download this file. Cheers.

Do I have to take notis of this warning?

Hey Byte

Although I was warned not to use your proposal (mentioned in my last
'letter') I did!
With success!
Thanks a lot!

Yours sincerely
