Hi there,

i had instaled Suse Linux on my Hardisk,
where originally is Win98 is installed.
In Win98 i have two 10 GByte Partitions
(C:, D:).
How can i convert the 3. Partition (10 GByte)
where bevore Linux was installed to Win98,
so that i have 3 Win98 Partitions (C:,D:,E:)
in a way, there is no danger to lost any data
on my Win98 Partitions (C:, D:) ?

Is there a freeware program (Win) to do this ?

Thank You all
Rudolf

I never heard that you could *convert* ext2, or ext3
or reiserfs or any linux partition to fat32 ms-dos format.

But if you have a windows installed, and want to access
to your linux partitions on the same drive, try :

explorer2fs.

Althought they say to be carefull wuth writing to the linux
partition, maybe it is improved now.

You can use a tool like Ranish Partition Manager or the included in Windows
98 FDISK to change the partition type. If you don't change the size or
anything, it should leave the other partitions alone. Once the partition
type is changed to FAT32 or FAT or whatever, you'll be able to format it
from Windows and use it as a Windows drive. As always, a word or caution,
whenever you mess with partitions, a full backup of the drive is the only
way to ensure you'll never lose any data. Things can and often do go
horribly wrong.

You need to delete the Linux partition and then Win98 will be able to
"see" and format it as drive E: (If it is after the current drive D on
the disk). You might try one of the "runs on CD" versions of Linux to
delete the Linux partition on the hard drive. Backup C and D before
doing anything "just in case".
