I think my video card went out. No display-and the
display is ok-works on other computers. I did not setup
remote desktop(1st thing on my list after this!) and have
a home network but access is limited to shared folders
and printers. Short of swapping out cards, is there a way
now of accessing thru network to diagnose? Problem pc has
XP Home, another pc on network is running XP Pro.

Yes there us a way for you to do so...

In your control panel on the working diplay computer
In classic view if using XP
Goto Administrative tools
Goto Computer management
Action menu > Computer to another computer...
You enter Administrator account name and passwd
It will give you access to the computer management MMC for
that computer

You can there start the Terminal Server
You can add your user to "Remote Desktop Users" Group

So then you have Remote desktop server running and use it !
