How to access a scanner in VB.NET

Does anyone know where I can get some sample code on how to activate a HP
scanner using VB.NET?

I want to write a simple program to scan some blueprints into the computer.

but keep in mind that under Vista
Twain is not the best choice, if you want to scan
from other applications (e.g. MS Paint) as they
expect WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) drivers
