Hello,

Is there a way to query the OS to find out how much video RAM I have?
I tried typing in "how much video ram do i have" (with quotes) in
Google, and I got the most lurid hit list. Go figure.

P.S. Posted to microsoft.public.win2000.hardware and
alt.os.windows.2000.

Thank you. Here is a summary of ways to get the information:

1. Apparently, information is avaialable if you go into the BIOS.

2. Run the program "dxdiag" and select the "Display" tab (this works).

3. Desktop_Properties->Settings_Tab->Advanced->Adaptor

4. Use AIDA32 utility from http://winsupportcenter.com/freeware/freeware.html
and look under Display Windows Video (I haven't tried this).

5. Free replacement for AIDA32, called "Everest", also available as
"Belarc Advisor" (haven't tried these either)

Everest Home Edition:

Belarc Advisor:

6. Apparently, information is available by looking at the post of one's
computer (except brand PC's), though I'm a bit confused by what this
means.

The meaningfulness of the raw RAM figure is apparently not that useful:
