I don't know why but a couple of months ago I started getting this blue
"Welcome screen" every time I turned on my computer. It also reappears like
a screensaver so I am forever having to click on my name in order to be able
to see the desktop again. I read somewhere that one of the Windows Power
Toys, TweakUI, had an option that allowed you to logon automatically at
system startup and it would "bypass the initial dialog box". I tried that
but it didn't fix the problem. I'd appreciate it tremendously if someone
could help me get rid of this annoying blue screen.
Thank you,

Nick

Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2

Highlight the username that you want automatically logged on, then uncheck
Users must enter a username and password............ Click Apply.

In the next dialog that opens, provide the password for the selected
username, if there is one.

Then right click the Desktop, select Properties, Screen Saver and uncheck On
resume, Show Welcome Screen, or On resume, password protect, as appropriate
for your system.

Thanks - I tried what you suggested but it's not accepting what I thought
was the password I used. I don't know if I am using the wrong password or if
the problem lies elsewhere. When I first go to CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 the
box for the username that you want automatically logged on is not checked -
I have to check it in order to highlight the user name then I uncheck it.
Can you suggest anything else I can try? I don't know how to confirm or
change the password. The dialog box says to reset it press CTRL-ALT-DLT but
when I do that I just get the Task Manager dialog box. I'd appreciate it
VERY much if you could help me with this.

Doug,
I don`t use a password in my home.
I tried your solution but I did not know if it would work with no
password, unless blank is a password:>)
The solution did allow me to get rid of a persistent problem with a
ghost login for a name not used.
