Hi

Just wondering how safe is the data travelling through a vpn. I connected my
home pc to the office and plans to copy some data over the vpn.

Many thanks in advance.

Richard

Security is why VPN was invented.

Copying binary data (files) is not "sniffed" and reassembled into usuable files
as easily as information sent in "clear text" such as usernames/passwords in
certain situations.

Hi Phillip

Thanks for taking time to reply. So, if I just copy and paste over the vpn,
there is no worry that the files be 'copied' somewhere along the journey?

Many thanks in advance
Richard

Copy and paste? You mean just file copying? I don't think it is very likely and
is going to be nearly impossible over VPN (even with just PPTP). But you could
be struck by lightning while sitting close to a window in a metal chair during a
storm :-).
