I have a show (PPT 2003) that has all slides set to auto transition so the
show plays with no clicks needed.

Now I want a slide on the end with two action buttons -
one that lets the user select to END and close the file.
and one to restart the show over again.

The former I found is easy, I insert an action button and set it's action to
END Show.

But why is there no action to replay the show??

All I can do is set the action to go to slide 1, which I found that doing so
does not restart the show, it merely plops you onto slide 1.

What is the procedure to restart a show as an action?

Create a custom show that contains all of your slides. Link the button to
that custom show. That should start the show back up, run through it, and
leave the person viewing the presentation with the same decision at the end.

Post back and let us all know if this does what you need.

Alternatively, add a blank slide as your first slide and assign it a
timining of 0 seconds. Set the slide to "hidden". Now, on the last slide
link your "replay" button to go back to the blank slide. That will cause
the re-entry into the *beginning* of the original slide #1. PowerPoint
returns to the *end* of a slide when you have previously viewed the slide.

Hello David,

PowerPoint does not replay animations on a previously viewed slide when you
jump to it from a later viewed slide. Of course, the animations are reset
when the presentation loops back to the beginning or you navigate
"naturally" to a slide from it's previous slide. Here is a KB article for
PowerPoint 2000 that describes a couple of workarounds (similar articles
exist for other versions of PowerPoint):

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;197701&Product=ppt

If it is important to you (or anyone else reading this message) that
PowerPoint include a method for choosing whether or not animations on
slide(s) replay when revisted without normal looping (perhaps a slide or
presentation option, or a Action Setting which can be chosen during slide
show), don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
