Hello,

I would like to find out how to fax from my printer. It
is HPdeskjet845c. I just purchased a new computer and am
trying to set my computer the way I want it. I have alot
of legal matter's that I need to fax. If anyone knows the
solution or can offer me any suggestions, I would
appreciate it.
Thank in advance,
Jeanie

I don't believe that the HP 845c is a multi-function printer. You may need
to purchase a fax machine.

Jeanie ... one doesn't fax directly from a printer such as your relatively
old 845c, rather faxes are sent using fax software. The fax feature is
somewhat limited in XP and, if you need to fax a number of documents
directly from the printer, I would recommend upgrading to an 'all-in-one'
printer. HP has several models for reasonable prices which allow you to do
what you need. I use the HP OfficeJet 5110 which allows me to just push a
button on the printer without ever going into the software (also has speed
dial) ... but there are other mfgrs and models.

Hi Fred,

I'm a nurse so I know very little about computer's,
but am great at
crashing them.
I have a fax machine, it's old too but it works.
I want to save money. You said there is fax software?
Would you be willing to help me out here please.

Thank you,

Jeanie

You do NOT need fax software on your fax machine.. just use the machine as
you always have done in the past..

Jeanie ... if you have a fax machine (even an old one), I'd stick with that
for faxing out and forget about installing any fax software on the computer.
Stay with what works for you.
