How often is group policy applied?

Is group policy only applied at log in or is it checked periodically also?
For example, if I want group policy to execute a vbscript mid-day can I do
that without the users having to log off and back on?

I believe the default is every 90 mins which can be
configured differently if needed.

Group Policy is applied at startup (computer policy), logon (user policy)
and at its refresh period thereafter (90 minutes, plus or minus a random
offset of up to 30 minutes). If you want to manually invoke this (or script
it) use GPUpdate (assuming XP or later - secedit /refreshpolicy is the way
to go on Windows 2000).

I hope this helps.
