How NDAS Protocol differs from standard NFS and SMB (samba)?. Thanks in
advance. How reliable NDAS storage compare to NAS, they clian NAS is
slow because of overhead of TCP/IP.

NDAS technology is proprietary to Ximeta. So far I'm not aware of major
vendors
adopting that technology.

Host needs a special driver to communicate with device.

There is no NDAS Gigabit yet, so a maximum tranfer speed is about 11.1MB/s.
That is slow compared with USB 2.0, IEEE1394 or Gigabit attached NAS.

I could not find reliability numbers, but a similar product
(Freecom Classic SL Network Drive) claims only
50,000 MTBF hours.
