this has to be one of the most helpful newsgroups i have visited in some
time. thanks for being so willing to lend a hand to ati newbies such as
myself.
I was in a store today and saw an ati value edition tv tuner card. it said
that it functions as a PVR though, and has the guide, and vcr software
needed for the pvr functionality.
it was only $75 canadian, ($60 america or so)... it seemed too good to be
true.
Years ago i tried an old ati tv tuner card, and it was pretty bad. the
signal was terrible (and i have very good signal in my house according to my
isp/cable co), and half the time it wouldnt work.
I figured this was just a windows 2000 problem (the fact that it wouldnt
work half the time), and returned the card.
So now i have two questions:
1. For someone that doesnt need to do video editing, just be able to have a
tv tuner/pvr, is this a good card?
2. how much hdd space do i need to be able to use this as a pvr? does it
have different quality settings, etc?
Thanks in advance.
