How much disk space can win2k address?

My computer company is configuring a new system for me: 3
partitions of 100 GB on a 300 GB disk (that will have
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, XP ME and Vista).

They tell me that Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional cannot
adress the disk space of 100 GB. That is: they first
installed win2k in 1 partition (NTFS). When they create a
new partition on the 300 GB disk, they get an error from win2k.

Is this a known problem?

Is there a work-around?

48-Bit LBA Support for ATAPI Disk Drives in Windows 2000

XP needs Service Pack 1 or higher to do it and I don't think that
Windows ME will be able to address space above the 48-bit lba boudary
without a third party solution. Trying to do so might corrupt the data
on the disk!

Thanks John. I'll forward your info. And sorry for the
misunderstanding: with 'XP ME' I meant Windows XP Media
Edition (actually it is called Media Centre, I guess ;-))

You're welcome. MCE is the usual for Media Center Edition.
