How may I make a backup of a distribution list?

I wish to make a backup of a distribution list in Outlook Address Books to
use in the event of a lost of information on a hard drive (ie disk crash).

DL's should not be backed up separately. You should back up your Outlook
Data File.
The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
