I have found information about windows 2k Server, Advanced
Server, etc about how many xeon processors they support in
terms of "logical processors" but I cannot find any
information from either Microsoft nor Intel about windows
2k professional.

Microsoft has a white paper that discusses how 2k server
can support 4 logical processors which equals 2 xeon's.
But I want to know about 2k professional.

Win2K will support a single Xeon as 2 logical processors. Win2K will support
2 Xeons as 2 physical processors. That's it.

let be clear here...

he is talking about P4 ( >1.8Ghz ) prox, correct?

in the old days, the workstation products were "licensed" for 2 processors.
But companies like compaq had the Professional workstation 8000 which had
(up to) 4 Ppro processors, and shipped with NT Workstation. I heard
scuttlebutt about how the 2kPro kernel / hal is the same as the Server
(standard) versions, just "tuned differently". I have never tried to install
2kPro on a 4 way box...

I might have the chance to do that in about a week or so..

It is curious, isnt it?

Shouldn't be a problem with installing Windows 2000 Professional on a 4-way
box, it'll install just fine. However, it'll only use 2 processors and there
ain't no way to make it use all 4.
