I wonder what answer you received? AD has no practical limit. It was
designed
to support "in excess of 10,000,000 objects" and there are production
domains
with about that many users (plus other objects.)

Some test domains have reached 100,000,000 -- since there is likely no
company
or organization with this quantity of users (with accounts) and since any
such
organization (if it did exist) would likely divide the domain for OTHER
reasons
than size, it really isn't limited.

Ok, if you are setting up TheCountry.China.cn maybe you have a restriction.

There is no "answer" to you question. This almost entirely dependent on the
quanitity of data and amount and type of processing required. Only a
measurement
of a working system could set such limits.

And then, those limits would only be valid for a particular hardware
configuration.

10,000 transactions PER SECOND would be a lot. 10,000 per minute or per
hour
might not be so much but it might appear simultaneous to the users.

You cannot size systems by asking "What is the limit?" If you aren't doing
your own
testing then the "limit" is likely greater than your developers are
qualified to build.

Just to add, the practical upper limit of (of course hasn't been tested to
my knowledge) is about 4+ billion objects. This is pretty much the share
limit on a share too (if anyone can verify/confirm that), which is about 4.3
billion objects. This is per forest.

Now theoretically, from what I understand, you can go beyond this limit, but
the GC is based on this limit, so once you pass it, the GC won't enumerate
it, so if you do any lookups, you may not find those objects that were
created past that limit.

But no one has tested it anywhere near this limit.

Love to hear confirmations or corrections on this.
