How many times can you re-sysprep and image

Do you know what the reason is?

We have an Enterprise License agreement with MS and we are attempting to
image machines. Well one of the machines did not sysprep correctly so we
wanted to re-sysprep it, but someone meationed that this was not a good idea,
so I wanted to know why.

Hello,
Hmm I have never heard that PSS does not support running sysprep more than
once.
We limit the number of times that you can rearm a box to three, which would
infer that running Sysprep is more than once is supported.
If we limited support to running it only once it would be documented in
this article:
830958 Summary of the limitations of the System Preparation tool
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;830958

I have not heard that there is a limit to the number of times that sysprep
can be run.

Thanks,

humm

I was probably thinking of an older version of sysprep...

That is good to know

Thanks

Thank you! That is what I was thinking but just wanted to be sure.

Every so often we start from scratch again and move the drivers across
to a fresh image, seems cleaner that way, otherwise over time the image
seems to get "messy".

FYI,

OEM installation image
Microsoft does not support the use of Sysprep to create a new image of a
system that was originally created by using a custom OEM installation image
or by using OEM installation media. Microsoft only supports such an image if
the image was created by the OEM manufacturer.

I use sysprep on the same image as I work out the configuration of it as
often as needed. I also use sysprep as a remedy sometimes when a machine
loses it's account in the domain and needs to rejoin again. I find it more
reliable than manually re-joining the domain. Point is I haven't seen a
"limit" on using sysprep. Hope this is helpful.
