How many themes are rumoured

How many themes will Vista have? 2? Classic (and colour variants) and Aero
(and colour/glass+- variants)? Or will Microsoft do what is right and
actually provide an altogether another theme (considering it's been almost
five years or half a decade)? Or is it going to have to be blinky buggy
costly perhaps even ad/spywared third party software for anyone who wants an
alternative look?

Thanks

It was a bad choice from the start to do their glass thingy.

When you stylize too much like that, times goes by and it looks outdated.
Any good artist could have told them that.

Glass looks already old to me now... imagine what will happen when all the
sites
and applications start copying this thing... you will see glass and you will
puke!

3rd party developers will make apps to customize though, like windowblinds.

Fortunately it costs only 20 $

With the default XP theme, there are 3 colour choices...silver, blue and
green. Will Vista have colour choices for Aero?

I think for Aero Glass, you can change the colors to whatever you like.
(You have like 10 or so choices, but then you can use a color picker to pick
whatever color you want.) This is just from screenshots that I've seen.
For the basic Aero, I don't know.

Yeh, you can really customise Aero Glass fully in terms of colour schemes.
There are expected to be Plus! addons as well that should impliment Glass -
not entirely sure how though to be honest.

Yeh there's 3 Andre.

Aero Glass - the glassy "wowww" effect
Aero Basic (aka Aero Express) - or "scrap metal" as some people say
Classic - yikes! Back to the Server 2003 days ;o)

Fully? That's a bit of a stretch. :) I could get my taskbar green, but it
was rather limited as to brightness etc. etc.

If Microsoft Plus! for Windows Vista is anything like Microsoft Plus! for
Windows XP there won't be any truly new themes .. just the old ones warmed
over - not anywhere near worth the purchase price until they bundled it into
a Superpack and pricecut.

I was hoping for more in tterms of themes etc. after all these years, but
who cares now .. Vista will make Microsoft and the IT industry money and
that's all that counts as far as MS and the IT indusrty care .. and it will
be interesting enough to work with.

Well the two are a variation of one - Aero - one with "glass" on the other
with it off. They are not two distinct "themes".

The stuff at themexp.org all have bundled ad and spyware. Even the
wallpapaer comes as an executable. I just don't like those third party theme
programs. Buggy and suspect.

P.S. A variation on the Classic theme is what I will probably end using most
in Vista, although since Aero is pretty good I will probably use it
sometimes. Too bad there's not a couple more true themes. With Vista's
graphic capabilities there should have been. But there's a few months yet,
so who knows?

And BTW, you can use Royale and the XP theme in Server 2003. You might need
to enable the "Themes" service in Computer Management - but it's there.

themexp has gone bad .... and it didn't have window blind themes in the
first place

it used another program called stylexp

That's exactly right yeh - the Aero Basic theme is pretty much exactly how
the standard theme ran in XP - it's just a "skin" with nothing else really
running it. In theory if anyone could be bothered, it shouldn't be too
difficult just to ResHack out the files, modify them and have psychdellic
colours as your title bar ;o)
