Clueless, as always.
SATA is a point-to-point cable design. Period.

So all IDE host bus adapters (controllers) are 2 drive designs? Wotanidiot!
The temporary (I hope) constraint is that the only SATA devices are HDs.

Lack_of is not the same as a constraint.

Is there any limitation about that?

Thanks

Yes. You can only attach as many SATA devices as the controller has
ports. A two port controller could only support two devices. It's
not like USB, where you can split ports using a hub. SATA is a
point-to-point interface.

I believe current SATA controllers can only control 1 SATA hard drive per
controller.

Not just current, but for all time. SATA is a point-to-point cable
design. Period.

The temporary (I hope) constraint is that the only SATA devices are
HDs. Some day, maybe, optical and tape devices will also use SATA;
then we can wipe out PATA. I'd hope that FDs would also sprout
SATA interfaces, but FDs will probably die first.
