How many refills are typical before the cartridge is damaged or unusable?
I've refilled 2 #57's, one of them I refilled only 2 or 3 times max before
it refused to print in photomode... Now my other #57 is doing the same
thing :( I've refilled it about 6 times or so.

Is this typical? 3-6 refills before the cartridge needs to be replaced? I
had read somewhere (I'm sure it was here), that other people are still using
the cartridge(s) that came stock with the printers! ???

I'm not complaining mind you- Just curious what mileage others are getting,
or am I damaging the cartridge somehow in the refill process? (maybe
inserting the needle too far into the sponge?)

I've only refilled two or three times, and on the last time I had to give
Cartridge for Printer Resuscitation by placing my lips over the printhead and
sucking some ink out until I got a clean nozzle check. I must have used about
20 sheets of paper until I got the ink flowing again after many cleaning and
priming cycles.

If you put too much ink into the cartridge, entire colors will go out.

I've got to 15 refills approx (lost count) on #57 and #58, probably 7 on #56
and still working fine.
I only let them get to about 35% full before refilling though, fill to the
brim, take a bit out, and let it rest overnight in the printer before doing
any serious amount of printing.
