How many records with xl 03 hold?

The current record limit is 256 columns and 65kish rows,
will this be extended in the 2003 version?

I've heard that quattro pro looks at 1 million records,
will xl 03 be aware close?
 
Same limit: 65536 rows, 256 columns.
