How many PCs allowed under XP Home?

We have 6 PCs that seem to be networked to each other successfully under XP
Home. However, upon installing a network printer (that appears as a PC under
MS Network) we now seem to have problem connecting. Also, we have an Apple
and 2 laptops that can connect wirelessly.

Could the problem be down to having too many PCs under XP Home? We have one
PC that has XP Pro but we don't have a server. Sometimes the PCs can connect
to the printer but sometimes they can't, it's very random. The printer is an
Epson Aculaser C100N.

Thank you for your attention and any advice you can give us.

There's no limit to the number of computers that can be on the network
and connect to a networked printer.

What exactly happens when a computer can't connect to the printer? If
there's an error message, what does it say?

Hi
I am Not sure how the printer is exactly contributing to the problem, it
might depends on the way it is configured on your Network.
Windows XP Home is capable to work only with 5 concurrent connections. XP
Pro and Vista, 10 concurrent connections.
If you have 6 PCs, and a network printer it might be a good idea to upgrade
Windows..

Those limits - 5 for XP HE and 10 for XP PRO - are the limits on the
max. no. of inbound connections. There is no limit to outbound
connections.

Inbound connections do not mean PCs. One PC could use all incoming
connections from another PC.
