We are creating a ppt for marketing purposes and I want to make sure I am
providing enough info to "hook" a customers interest, but not too long for
them to lose focus. Any suggestions to what length (#of slides) have worked
best?

Jenn Smith,
In general I advise to keep the presentation between 20 and 30 minutes
maximum. The number of slides is not relevant. Just make sure you do not
show to much on one slide, if possible use graphics to illustrate what you
mean.
But I am sure others will have more suggestions to offer.

Hi Jenn,

When working with clients, I initially confine the presentation to 5 to 7
slides only. Extra slides that end up in the final product are just
expansions of those 5 to 7 slides. As for length of talk, if you can't say
it in 15 minutes, you will probably lose your customer! If you have the
opportunity to present longer than 15 minutes, it should only be to give
extra, in-depth information and not to ramble on.

Are you meeting the client in person? Or is the slideshow running at a trade
fair? Or do you give a CD to your client? Or do you send it to them via
e-mail? All this influences the length of a presentation - if you meet your
client, 30 min might be OK, if you send it via mail, 7 slides might be
better.

Ute
