It would be helpful to know how long (approximately)it takes to convert
a basic volume to dynamic? I'll be converting 48GB.

Thanks,
~Ben

Don't know exact time, but be warned once you convert there is no way of going back. What do you
plan to do with it that it needs to be dynamic?

Not that you need to know but since you're interested, I have a
partition on one of my file servers that's going to be used in part as a
DFS volume. I'm sure the DFS is going to be growing over time and I'll
need to allocate more space to it later on. (reason for dynamic)
I just could not remember how long the conversion took last time I did
it and I need to schedule all modifications to the server equipment to
after hours or weekends.

A+ Network+ Security+ MCSA and something else I can't remember <--- I
guess some people like to show this stuff

No problem, just wanted to make sure you weren't doing it just to do it, I have run into some people
that do a conversion without realizing that it is a one way conversion. I think the time needed
will be determined by the amount of data on the partition. The last time I did one was a blank
partition and it was done in a few seconds.

OK, good deal! I heard a few seconds from another forum also.
Thank you David.
