How large can Distribution List be?

I've had problems in the past because my distribution list was too
large. I couldn't e-mail anyone, remove people from the list or move
the names in the list without having to start a new list. Needless to
say, this was annoying. Now I'm afraid to add too many to my
distribution list. I'm keeping them under 100. Does anyone know how
many addresses I can fit in a sing distribution list?

I'm using Outlook 2000. The limit I'm confronted with is 167 in a
distribution list. So what does that has to do with
the ISP.

The limits are set by your ISP, not Outlook. Ask them.

Outlook itself imposes no such limit, so you need to explain how it is that
you are "confronted" by this limit. Limits on the number of recipients is
imposed by the mail sever, not Outlook.
