The X600 is a 9600 XT that'll fit in a PCI-X board. So its about half
as fast as a 9800 Pro.

My X600 (PCI-E) appears around 2 to 2.5 times slower than X800 -
though I should point out it's 128Mb not 256, a 256 should give
somewhat better performance.

no LOL x600 is different chipset same as x800 which is not 9800 XT...
The X600 is nearly identical to the 9600XT, same core speed: 500 MHz,
same number of pixel pipelines: 4, same memory bus: 128 bit. If you
look through the benchmarks the results between the two are just about
the same, the x600 gets a little better because it's default memory
speed is faster.

And FYI, the X600 is based on RV380, native PCI-Express version of RV360
aka Radeon 9600XT, not the R420, X800 chipset. Get your facts straight
before you go and make an ass of yourself.

No, 256mb will give negligible gains in all games except something
like Doom3 that uses massive texture resolution.
