If your system didn't come with a CD, your only recourse is to use whatever
was supplied to you as a recovery routine. Check your documentation or
contact your manufacturer's tech support.

You can't fully repair but here are two things, on of which might get you
back to your desktop. Boot the system, start tapping F8, when the menu
appears, select "Last Known Good Configuration," and press enter. If that
doesn't resolve it, follow the same procedure but at the menu select "Safe
Mode" and press enter. At Safe Mode you should be offered the option to go
immediately to System Restore, do so and try taking your system back to a
time prior to when this began.

If neither works, your only option is to use your computer's recovery
routine which should be listed in your documentation or contact their tech
support. This procedure generally wipes the drive losing all your
information but without an XP CD, that is your only option. There's not
guarantee, if you had an XP CD that a repair install would resolve the issue
but at least you could give it a try. Without it, there's no way for you to
even give it a try, limiting your options to the manufacturer's recovery
procedure.
